Thank you for the article, Mr. Sykes, I sure am glad they let Liam and his father go home back to, Minnesota. That judge was correct about, President Jefferson. Then the judge signed his name above the picture of little Liam. Moments in life are precious. I watched as ABC News interviewed him and his father. Due process under the law is important not using a youngster as pawn. I am proud of Minnesota and Minneapolis. This nation is coming together, a Democrat wins in Texas. Especially since the state was gerrymandered. Those are the miracles we need for our pro- democracy movement.

Thanks, Charlie, for all the information, posting Judge Biery’s decision, The true review of Melania the glowering myth, and the dogs.Pups make life so much better! They fill the space with hope. We need all the tail wags and hopes possible. Have a tail wagging evening.

As a careful observer of human behavior and the human psyche (I’m a therapist), I feel quite confident in suggesting that Melania is every bit as vapid, dull and lacking in talent as she appears to be. I also feel confident in saying that she is not a victim. She knowingly got into bed with the devil, using this opportunity as a leg up (literally and figuratively) in her goal of enriching herself. She seems as corrupt as the rest of them.

I'm so glad that you published the entire court order! I have a printout of it that I have been re-reading from time to time, hearing it in my head as a dramatic oratory. Even the lone footnote in the first sentence is a winner. It's a citation for the term Great Writ of habeas corpus, and it goes right back in history:

Ex parte Bollman, 8 US (4 Cranch) 75 (1807); Sir William Blackstone, Commentaries on the Laws of England (1765-1769); see also Magna Carta, Article 39.

My daughter says I am too cynical, but I agree with David French.

Nasty bunch. Even a conservative Federal District Court judge must teach a basic civics lesson to this crew. Coming soon: storm the Bastille

OMG Charlie! I just read Garrett Graff's article!!

David French’s NYT column is terrifying. And right on the money. These people will do everything they can to rig this election.

Ellis and All, it seems to me that we the Voters need to take steps to PREVENT a rigged Election, in which trump wins. States must ensure that they control the Election Count.

Thank you for excerpting French’s piece about the failure of imagination, a phrase that had some to mind before I read your substack today. I had recently watched Holocaust, the 1978 movie with Meryl Streep and begun Tim Snyder’s black earth. Also processing a recent conversation with my 80 year old sister who asked me if I didn’t think he really cared about about what’s best for the US with all the immigration. She had floored me before the election by saying we needed a strong leader. This time I cut off her query about Bernie sanders by declaring this is not about Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal but about the rule of law and the constitution. Silence. I repeated it. Silence again. Of course she grew up in the segregated south, but I would have thought…. My failure of imagination.

I’m so fortunate to have discovered you Charlie through morning shots and through you the never trump faithful.

Sarah, I fear that you describe a clear image of trump's plan. I hope that there is Congressional resistance to such a TRAVESTY. John NJ
