I really wish Maine Dems would spend about 5 days to get candidates then have 3 debates on 3 consecutive nights in 3 different places then hold a caucus on the 25th. Difficult but not impossible and let's people be involved.
What I find frustrating in these conversations though is how confident Charlie always seems even when he has been dead wrong on politics for the last 10 years.
I think pratner should drop out. Will he? Who knows but I hope so. I would prefer Stevens over AES but I’m not confident I have any idea what REAL swing voters like. I honestly don’t know what the right strategy is but I know moderation isn’t it. Do I want this to be true? I'm gobsmacked at Charlie and Matt's assessment of Mitch McConnell's legacy. Perhaps it's a blindspot on their part but in my estimation Mitch McConnell has been a blight on our country and its politics. He is the embodiment of the craven greed for power that has caused the downfall of the Republican Party and the rise of Trump.
McConnell has been a master of gridlock in the Senate. He is partisanship personified. He specialized in blocking every bill that would give a better life to the average American. Whether it be the ACA, SNAP, State assistance for public welfare programs as well as many others he has either stalled, blocked, or voted against them.
He illegally stopped Obama from appointing a SCOTUS justice in an unprecedented move and then tossed his rationale for doing that to give Trump another seat on the court. Lastly, he made up a slim reason for not removing Trump after impeachment paving the way for Trump's return. This man is a virus on our politics and one that is deadly because it kills our democracy over time.
I omitted from this indictment of McConnell his execrable wink and nod to birtherism. For polical purposes he dodged and gave tacit support to the notion that pur first African American president was illegitimate in an effort to geld his presidency. Only the lowest piece of scum would behave like this.
Good God America...it's high time you all started to talk about people within your Citizenship including All Immigrants who possess a High Moral Standard, those that have Integrity, Intelligence, Resourcefulness, Diplomatic are True Patriots and Care Deeply About Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in America. The daily NEWS speaks volumes about those that don't fit this bill...so perhaps to counter this your Programming should start to acknowledge these Citizens that have these finer and more respectful qualities...Humility, Courage, Bravery, Hope, and those those that possess Compassion and Love for not just America...but for the World at Large. I'm thinking that your Programming should include a 5 minute segment at the end of every video production, to highlight these people... This to establish a counter balance to the NEWS that is most often NEGATIVE...and leaves one with LESS HOPE at the END of the DAY. Of course the real duty of Journalism is to EXPOSE THE TRUTHS...TELL THE STORY...AVAIL RELIABLE INFORMATION to the ELECTORATE...all this is GOOD...but given the SHITSTORM AMERICA is ENTANGLED with NOW...under a REGIME that POSSESSES NONE of the QUALITIES ABOVE...WE NEED a MAJOR COUNTERBALANCE...to SEE THE POSITIVE...just as YOU NEED WORTHY CANDIDATES to BRING ABOUT WHOLE SCALE CHANGE IN THE MID-TERM ELECTIONS!! I wish Michael Cohen every success in his new venture. So many nasty comments on this(not here as your readers are better than that in the main). If you don’t like the guy there is the option to not comment and just get on with your day.
Instead of outright silence from our political leaders, (When they disappear for periods of time)how about a little honesty in what is happening? Remember the old Soviet leaders would disappear and they only had "colds". Then they died.
Absolutely nothing surprising about Platner issue from the very minute the first issue arose - the tattoo - unless it was done when he was less than 15 years old. C'mon folks, that's a clear sign of some kind of deep seated philosophy on Platner's part. Add to that even a whiff of sexual harassment and the game was all over. It's hard to believe that ANYONE was willing to forgive who and what he really is, least of all the prominent people who have supported him until today.
