But Charlie, Ronald Reagan also had dementia issues in his 2nd term. I saw it with Biden, hell we all did, before the debate. But the left was deluded, a lot by Jill Biden…. and I’m a lefty.

I was enthralled with the entire discussion. America, is in a moral and fiscal crisis. I uploaded this video to use some of the talking points for my next protest sign

Caution! Don't dwell on Joe Biden. It's interesting what happened in an academic sense. But right now we need to focus on what is happening now and figuring out how to slow or stop or mitigate what is happening now. Talking about whether the Biden people were delusional does not accomplish anything of use in the immediate time.

Great podcast. Peter Wehner is a top quality human being. In the old days, I always respected him but always disagreed. I was not surprised he became a Never Trumper. And I did not disagree with most of what he said in this interview.

May I humbly suggest that as an act of “micro resistance” to the current regime, if you’re financially able, please get out this weekend and see the movie “Audrey’s Children.” It will remind you that 1) millions of lives can be improved and saved when humans from different races, sexes, and nations come together in cooperation for a common goal; 2)amazing things can transpire when one person is relentlessly persistent in pursuing a goal and is willing to cause some “good trouble; 3)that when institutions and corporations are willing to cooperate on occasion, instead of compete, it can markedly and measurably benefit humanity; 4)the importance of having people of character and competence in charge of our national Health and Human Services Department.

Great conversation with you and Peter Werner.

I’m going to give a different perspective of what I was thinking, especially after the debate debacle. My belief was that even if Biden was elected and the tragedy of his passing,or if he passed away in office,if it came to that was that Kamala Harris would be able to seamlessly lead the nation given her growth and confidence, that she was lacking in 2019. I think her views on big tech and the banking or markets would have played better than under Biden,as he did hold some grudges he shouldn’t have. he ran when he shouldn’t have and yes I also talked myself up to no change as I’d use the SOTU address where he still spanked the republicans,or the way they world or our allies responded to him. the bills were solid, and did bring America through a very difficult time. I believe that if it had happened eventually, then Harris would have made more policy changes and the worst of the pandemic induced inflation was setting America on track for even higher growth and success. and it would still be 100 times better than what we all knew was coming (we that actually listen and know what Trump truly is)

There are certainly issues that would have pushed Kamala Harris, but after 4 years of “on the job training”

The bills still in progress and unemployment rates, market conditions could have set us up for a brighter future for our kids. Like building more affordable housing, keeping manufacturing and construction on track for the next several years. broadband, chips factories etc…

All of it would have been better!

I don’t say this is a great idea of mine. But that’s how I thought of the situation. and as bad as that great man was doing at times. Zi also believe his second term would have been a lot less stressful on his “old ass” and he would have listened to Harris or let her do more.

After all,we’ve had presidents wives step in and do a lot of the job too.

My argument has many flaws. I’m not very good at writing my thoughts or opinions.

But that was my line of honest thought.

I’ve had a burr up my ass since I was 25 years old about Trump and his Three Card Monte Dealer BS. I have never stopped posting on this feeling since the birtherism fuckery.

As always thank you so much for the fantastic free content!

Listen to Charlie,my friends. We are NOT the crazy ones!

Though personally I may have a few screws left over from my build.

Are the “social issues” the code words for trans people in sports and pro-Palestinian protests at elite universities? What do you actually mean by those words? Have we just gone too far with what ?

Exactly, or DEI efforts to level the playing field for minorities? What positions, exactly, should liberals take to mollify the racists, bigots, and homophobes among us?

Teixeira’s assertion that cultural factors are critically important certainly applies to MAGA voters; after all, Biden and the Dems passed a spending law that approved over $40 B for broadband deployment solely in rural areas and were rewarded with Trump winning a greater percentage of the rural vote than his two previous elections. Economic issues are largely “divisible” so that tax rates, spending appropriations, minimum wages, yes even tariff rates, etc. can be argued over in incremental ways, e.g., capital gains tax goes to 15% or 20%, but many cultural issues are largely “indivisible,” i.e., either / or and not more or less. What does Teixeira expect the Dems to do: relinquish their stance on the separation of church and state, forego gun control laws, give up women’s bodily autonomy, renounce freedom of cultural expression if it offends the Christian Right. These so-called cultural issues are at the heart of what it means to be a Democrat, at least “culturally.” I will acknowledge that the Dems can lighten up on wokeism, word monitoring, extreme cancel culture, and express admiration for our armed services and respect for religion, which most Dems I know already do!

Thank you for bringing up the relevance of Hayek's writing. While there is small comfort in it, it proves our fear is justified.

Biden WAS one of the best presidents we’ve ever had. However, he had a speech impediment and it was difficult for him to promote his accomplishments. His administration should have been able to do a better job of promoting them - no kidding. You conservatives still think you have the decoder ring, even though you run the economy into the ground every time you’re given the chance. When all is said and done, being a good, caring, and nice person still wins! It is still the remedy!
