How in the hell did they actually confuse Thao with the two guys they were after? The Free World already excludes the US, whether Europeans can bring themselves to openly acknowledge it or not. Trump has withdrawn from dozens of UN organizations while trying to establish his own pay-to-play alternative, with him running everything. He is similarly dropping out of various NATO components. He refuses to affirm our commitment to honor Article V, which is the cornerstone. While this is telling, his attacks on Greenland and Denmark are unmistakable. His betrayal of Ukraine and degradation of Zelensky have been a gift to Putin. Meanwhile Mark Rutte's determination to pander to Trump should make his fellow NATO participants question whether he should be in his position as well. The alliance is broken and non-US members must coalesce for their mutual defense and long-term survival. To cling to the fantasy that they still have a reliable ally here would be at their great peril.
A stupid good fact about our world today is that Salman Rushdie has NOT been cut up into little pieces. He has NOT been shot in the face. Would that we could be so blessed.

The Cities Church in St Paul, from what I could gather online, is loosely affiliated with that Christofascist Doug Wilson and Christ Church/Moscow Idaho. They should have protested outside the church, but no one was physically harmed or cuffed and disappeared. Still, I agree with your argument.
If Trump orders a military attack against Danish and NATO forces in Greenland, should top leaders refuse? If they refuse, one would expect Trump to seek to remove them. That will leave the top brass two choices. They could resign to be replaced by more compliant generals, preserving their personal honor (perhaps). Or they could refuse. The military has the might to do this. But what could one call this other than a coup? Could or military lead a coup against the Trump administration? Should they? Is a extra-constitutional military coup against a regime intent on violating the constitution on every side justifiable? Is it too soon to begin contemplating this?
Their oath is to the Constitution, not the president, or even Congress. Too few German military remembered that and began actively trying to overthrow Hitler (oddly the official US position was they were opposed). If Congress doesn't do their job, the military might be forced to remember who they really serve. We tend to forget that a good number of our Founders were in the same position - who did they really serve - the King or America. They chose America.
Every time I leave a message concerning this fool who sits in the White House, I will remind my fellow democracy warriors, that not one stone, bolt, letter, ship, car, plane that can be connected to him shall remain whole. We must tear down every symbol of his presidency so it can be forgotten in the history of this once-great melting pot of individuals' dreams and aspirations. This country has to be cancer-free going into the 22nd century.
