Polls are a waste of ink ! They rile us up and keep us agitated! I try to maintain my sanity!!!

Folks, really, what are we going to do if the monster wins and the Congress slips into the hands of his minions? If we see our country going down in flames? If our laws become unenforceable? The first time it happened, President Obama reminded us more than once that our government works by the peaceful transfer of power. And what is right is to honor that and not fall into the pit from which the stooges and oafs at the Capitol came from on January 6th. This is a time to find the inner strength to be a good citizen regardless of outcome, and resist when we can and how we can. I do not want to look in the mirror in Nov and see a person I disdain. Vote BLUE UP AND DOWN THE BALLOT.

That Musk and Carlson chat is stunning. The idiotic self-regard is bad, but holy cow, those guys are so grotesque and fatuous and nauseating, it’s hard to believe they are actually human.

RE: Congressman Chuck Edwards, R-N.C. and the content of footnote 1

"FEMA is NOT going to run out of money."

"Secretary Mayorkas’ statement indicating otherwise was an irresponsible attempt to politicize a tragedy for personal gain."

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/mayorkas-warns-fema-doesnt-have-enough-funding-to-last-through-hurricane-season/ar-AA1rBK3F?ocid=BingNewsSerp

Hmmm. "an irresponsible attempt to politicize a tragedy for personal gain."

Mayorkas may be right. He may be wrong. He may be simply mistaken for a number of different reasons. Or take the cynical political view and maybe he's making a play to get Congress back into session to provide more money to FEMA beyond the $20B just approved, which Speaker Johnson has clearly said he will not do.

Whichever of those possibilities is correct, perhaps Chuck can explain to me just how Mayorkas stands to gain *personally* from saying FEMA doesn't currently have enough money to meet its obligations to the end of hurricane season (Nov.30) in the face of another likely devastating storm already shore-bound for western Florida, as well as an unknown number of storms or other disasters which may occur in the coming 7 weeks, whether his statement indeed turns out to be the case or not.

And while he's at it, he might comment on why what Trump, Vance et al have said, are saying and will continue to say regarding the government's response to these disasters doesn't deserve at least the same condemnation from him that he apparently reserves for only a Democratic U.S. agency secretary.

Or maybe he'd care to comment on the following:

"When Congress approved a temporary measure that replenished the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) disaster relief fund just before Hurricane Helene struck, Republicans supplied *all* the no votes in both chambers." (emphasis mine)

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/how-republicans-who-voted-against-fema-funding-reacted-to-hurricane-helene/ar-AA1rUzxi?ocid=BingNewsSerp

I'm sorry, Charlie. *FFS* isn't even in the ballpark on this one on multiple levels for multiple reasons.

And Edwards' condemnation of Mayorkas in virtually the same metaphorical breath with which he's trying to mitigate and undo the intentional damage and harm inflicted on his constituents by the very top echelon of candidates, office holders, members and operatives in his very own party - with not even so much as a single tepid plea for them to knock it the hell off - is hypocrisy, spinelessness and mendacity on a thermonuclear level.

If one wanted to take the most cynical reason why Trump and his minions are echoing the lies about the government response, you could believe they are hoping that the loss of life is high so that Harris' likeability numbers would go down. Trump doesn't care that the people most easily convinced that Democrats are targeting Red States and controlling weather are his voters. He needs to dirty up Harris/Walz; this is the way to do it.

FEMA and the governors of NC and GA are having to devote attention to the hideous disinformation sponsored by our domestic terrorists; they have to inform the victims and the public the truth, while simultaneously acting to help the people in trouble. What a sad commentary on the state of our country, when right-wingers are carte blanche doing their best effort to destroy our nation. As for Musk and Tucker Carlson, it is beyond appalling that these a-holes are joking - laughing!! - about assassins killing Biden and Harris. Laughing about it! The moral depravity is sickening. How messed up is humanity that one is the wealthiest person on the planet, and the other gets a megaphone to amplify insane crap.

It's about time we started calling this stuff what it is: Anti-American.

If you actively wish for the country to fail because the "other team" is in charge, you are anti-American.

The thing that is so troubling to me is not the firehose of lies by Republicans nor how really stupid the lies get or the doubling down on those lies… how can half of Americans believe them? I understand the billionaires behind Trump. They will have free rein to pillage and fleece the American people including Trump’s cult. All they’d have to do is bribe Trump.

Thanks to the Supreme Court the president is free to bribe anyone or any government.

But the Trump believers will get what they deserve but the sane people reminding will have to suffer as well.

Democrats moderate Republicans, and minorities get your ass working to win the election, not just presidential but Congress and the Senate. So have a lot on the line.

I voted yesterday and it felt great. . I adore Charlie and his wife's dogs and I adore AB Stoddard's run on sentences. What a swell crowd to hang with.
