Just catching up on this....

"Organisers for Saturday’s parade said they were expecting “hundreds of thousands” ... It is possible the poor weather kept many at home…."

Ok... so --->

Unlike a similar military parade in Normandy where Trump didn't show because of actual rain

Trump supporters didn't show because of the threat of rain.

Temps were all the way up to the low 80's. Wind was whipping at 5 MPH.

OR

Weather underground is creating fake news.

Later in the day, ICE ordered agents to “hold on all work site enforcement investigations/operations on agriculture (including aquaculture and meat packing plants), restaurants and operating hotels."

That's going to put a real crimp in Miller's demand that ICE arrests 3,000 immigrants a day.

Two comments: I read a credible report that there is a Russian connection to Vance L Boelter. And the attempt on DJT’s live is staged theater. If you look closely there is no other conclusion.

Yeah, I'm comfortable now saying it out loud: after at least 30 years of being radicalized ...

told by Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh and many others through far right media outlets and echo chamber social media sites ...

and being indoctrinated to believe that violence is okay, even necessary, as long as it is directed at liberals and their supposed baby-killing, sexually perverted, immigrant-loving, anti-religious agenda ...

and with a President who has glorified, even invited, violent action at his rallies and elsewhere to manhandle opposition to him and his agenda ...

... the conservative right is what most Americans must fear the most and who willfully house the most evil, twisted minds in our midst.

They normalized such talk years ago and thereby provided the permission structure for the looniest and angriest in our midst to take up arms, and take the law and our accepted standards of decency into their own hands, with explosive, devastating force, and with few if any regrets or apologies.

No reasonable person armed with the evidence can deny that violence and political activism are now inextricably intertwined on the right, to the detriment of us all. So much for being the party of law and order. They broke it. They own the mess and the cleanup. Our society and civility die a little more every day that they allow violent words and deeds to take place in their midst and do not denounce it often and loudly and forcefully enough to make it stop That particular blood will not wash off when the history books write the narrative for future audiences.

You left out the July 20, 2020, New Jersey murder of federal judge Ester Salas' son and the wounding of her husband in what is thought to have been an assassination attempt on her.

Remember a couple of months ago when one of the administration Secretaries said his mother-in-law wouldn’t complain if her social security check didn’t arrive one month so anyone who did complain must be attempting fraud? Yet their business buddies can complain about their undocumented employees being frightened and detained, yet no one in the administration is accusing those buddies of illegally hiring undocumented immigrants. I wonder why that is? (Rhetorical question.)

Despite Trump and all the bad news, we old guys still miss our dads terribly.

Try my substack post on the subject.

It was certainly a hopeful sign to see the No Kings rallies.

That along along with the sparcely attendaned parade is hopefully a wakeup call to the soft maga voters.

Charlie - it was so touching to see the tribute to your father. He would be very proud of your achievements. Both you and your dad have served your country well, each in your own special way. Many thanks.

Thank you for this rundown on last week's "horrors." Very sure that it was painful to write.

Eli fixes everything, doesn't he?

Loved the guard dog political sign. Such signs can be stolen even in my mostly blue city. A triggered political minority driving through at night, mad that you are taking the name of their God-King in vain.

Yes, Happy Father's Day, Charlie. In the midst of madness we still need calm. We still need silence from the news so that we may rest, because our gritty work must continue . Showing up each day in voice or action requires strength and determination Your presence on this page provides encouragement , perspective and truth without drama. I appreciate that quality.

Do save todays meaningful picture for other times when a. lift-up is needed. With Gratitude for all that you give during these challenging days. Deep Bows, Carol Kanjin Abrahamson
