Today is a sad day for me. I've never been more ashamed to be an American. The land where somehow it's bad to care about others, to not want suffering or open season on sovereign nations we call "friends". The country that claims to be Christian, but can't do the most basic thing that Christ asked of us: take care of those weaker than you and love one another.

I doubt that many Americans actually realize what their losses will be as they spout about "America First", which is really saying "America Best." Nothing has ever been less true.

I was angrily shoveling snow from our drive yesterday, something I really don't like to do. Very vigorously, too. I'd just seen and read about Trump being asked if Ukraine shouldn't be present at the peace talks. I'll paraphrase; he answered something to the effect of, "That's an interesting question. It was a bad move for them to get into that war."

Further, we're learning that the Ukrainian refugees here will be deported under the new immigration laws. This after 3 weeks of solid shitification, and I had enough. This betrayal broke me.

My husband came outside and said, "Wow, thank you! This is usually your least favorite thing to do I told him that I needed to do something, to get away from the news. I was so pissed. When he asked what happened, I told him. I ended my angry tirade saying, "The podcast host said that Trump is a 'moral monster', and that is so right."

My husband's response was succinct. "That is America now- lacking any moral compass."

Hurting our own people, hurting our allies, hurting our futures. For what? So Elon can be the wealthiest most influential person in the world and Trump can pretend he's half as smart and tough as Putin?

I will get past this and continue to be in the fight. But right now, I don't like my country and need

a bit of time to grieve the ugliness that I'm seeing.

As always, thank you, Charlie. You didn't promise us easy, but you do provide us with the truth. And puppies. And now family art! :)

Those with a deep knowledge of TV history might remember that Dr. Johnny Fever was fired from a disc jockey job for saying the word "booger" over the air. Now we see the desk of Roosevelt and Truman and Kennedy and Reagan ... being boogered in plain sight on TV.

My, how we have progressed as a society over the years. It also is something of a symbol of what the current administration is doing to certain segments of America, just as out in the open, and with an equal lack of shame and remorse. Of course we'll overlook for the moment that those in power and doing so are not little children, rather they are adults who are empowered to handle mature adult responsibilities. Not that we should, and not that they do. It's merely what people have become accustomed to accepting. Make bad choices, get bad results. Simple as that.
