I think we need to realize that Trump is a criminal and has no respect for the laws. He just figures ways to get around them and since they are closing Supreme Court gave him total immunity, we must expect many laws to be broken!

Trump will not serve a third term. There will be no amendment. If it looks like it's a serious possibility, he will be assassinated. And in this case, that's good.

Yes, what’s the enforcement mechanism should now be our first question. As you have said so many times, there is no floor to what they may do, no depth of depravity they won’t plumb. This is such a big part of the MAGA project; getting people to discover their worst selves. It start with teasing out the transgressive thrill of cruelty. Then inviting others into the tribe, no judgements about anything if they choose the red hat. ‘Telling it like it is’, just another way of exploring your personal depths of spirit. Praise for nothing more than provoking that in others. Every good instinct drowned in nihilism and apathy. All the things Hannah Arendt wrote about a lifetime ago. The ‘banality of evil’.

Jonathon chait raises an excellent point. What if the rnc ignores the constitution and nominates Trump again. This would no doubt force a Supreme Court to rule whether it is legal. The same Supreme Court inverted the 14th amendment to keep him on ballots this year. The same Supreme Court invented law and gave presidents immunity from criminal activity. They will once again twist the constitution by saying a president can only serve 2 consecutive terms but can serve unlimited nonconsecutive terms. Only death or disability will prevent Trump from being nominated again. And even then, the rnc may roll out the cpac golden idol to be sworn in.

Great discussion with former Congressman Jolly. I especially like his plan of Oppose, Propose, and Prepare. I will be presenting this to my Democratic Senator’s and Congressman.

There is a curious phenomenon occurring on the Threads website. Each morning there is a barrage of pro-Trump statements which support Trump’s claims and level criticism at anyone else, particularly Biden. In response, the comments responding to each Trump-supporting claim fill with criticisms of the Trump proponent’s statement. Not all are critical of Trump. A few are supportive, but the majority of the respondents are critical. This structure of interchange repeats daily. Does anyone have information about this style of social interchange? A blend of positive and negative commentary would suggest a balanced viewership and a purely one-sided set of perspectives might support the possibility that one side or the other had taken over the website and totally dominated the viewership. There are websites which reflect each of those possibilities. However, this is different. It is like waves rolling onto the beach. A wave of pro-Trump washes in and a wave of anti-Trump washes back out. Back and forth. Is this a Russian troll-bot manuever? Is this some delay in the algorithms of Meta in which the pro-Trump crowd has its comments stored overnight and then all released simultaneously in the AM? Perhaps it is timed to daylight in different time zones with the Russian troll farms producing the pro-Trump commentary during their daylight hours and then it is released 12 hours later in the US. It seems unlikely that the citizenry of the United States would engage in this strange temporal sequence of adulation and criticism.

Anti-Trump, fine… me too. But now you’re the Sykes that was anti-abortion before being pro abortion (e.g., hosting a 2009 MKE pro-life dinner). You were pro Act 10, before now being against it. Your take on the WI Supreme Court race is bewildering and seeming proof that you have flipped on all or most of your core values. This is more than your mostly righteous position as never Trump.

About RFK: Why is it people think he is any worse than Fauci? Whether you agree with him or not, RFK has values and he cares, he's just not very bright. Fauci on the other hand is a full blown sociopath. He was one of the architects of the COVID virus. That's why I like the TGIF column in The Free Press. They hold everyone's feet to the fire.

About that third term: It won't be Trump. It will be Vance. Maybe one year of Trump and then he will die of natural causes or, I think, Vance and his allies will "disappear" him. Vance is scarier than Trump because he's so much smarter. Trump may be dispicable, but he does have loyalities and he does get some things right, like he knows just how serious a threat the Islamist are and he cares. Vance sets a new record for the price one pays for having sold their soul.
