being a psychopathic narcissist really limits your generosity.
Of late, Trump's just dissing Kamala in mean small ways. Rule of thump: calling her stupid, dangerous, and reckless. Sounds a lot like Trump and having mostly crap to
share, out come accusations against
Kamala
No one makes much of his mental disorder.
His age doesn't help his cognitive abilities.
I don't think he can do the job. He is slipping
into incoherent babble. He gets less stable every day.
Eight years ago, the Republicans thought they could help him stay in office. But
Pity the nation whose people are sheep And whose shepherds mislead them
Pity the nation whose leaders are liars Whose sages are silenced And whose bigots haunt the airwaves
Pity the nation that raises not its voice Except to praise conquerors And acclaim the bully as hero And aims to rule the world By force and by tortured
Pity the nation that knows No other language but its own And no other culture but its own
Pity the nation whose breath is money And sleeps the sleep of the too well fed
Pity the nation oh pity the people who allow their rights to erode and their freedoms to be washed away
People of good will respect and admire those with the ability to grow and evolve in their views. The silver lining of the Trump era is that people who value democracy above partisan positions of the past have come together and learned from one another.
I enjoyed reading this! Very nicely done. I have such tremendous respect for you and all you do! Really, really enjoyed your interview with Harris and Cheney today too!! Well done
As an center left admirer Charlie has won over with his principled opposition and thoughtful analysis, this piece from the news side of the Times was really disappointing. Not only because it pays short shrift to 9 years of his work, but more importantly because it misunderstands (perhaps intentionally) the danger of our moment. Rather than suggesting a pitfall for Harris that there is potential tension between factions in her coalition (shocking), the angle of this same story including these same facts could have been: holy sh*t can you believe where we are now - this may be the broadest, most ideologically diverse coalition in American history.
Ultimately that article is a small noise that will be lost in the din and likely outweighed by the potential good Charlie, Liz, Kamala’s event can do to persuade a few more voters that Republic is worth keeping. Still, it’s not heartening to see the editors of one of the Country’s most important papers loose the forest for the trees.
Charlie, thanks for being here and being you! (and those lovely dog pics! much needed!)
Folks, let’s roll up our sleeves! ACTION STEPS! It’s dangerous to be over- confident that Kamala will win. In 2016 we were confident Hillary would win, but because 40 million registered Democrats did not vote, Trump won.
Pls join me in reaching out to moderate and low-propensity voters.
We need millions of low-propensity Democrats (a polite term for not motivated to vote), Independents, and undecideds to vote for Kamala. There are also some Republicans who are disgusted with Trump but they don’t want to “become a Democrat” – we need to inform them that voting Blue is in their best interests. WE CANNOT WIN THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE WITHOUT MILLIONS OF THEIR VOTES.
Two wonderful organizations - Galvanize Action - https://www.galvanizeaction.org/ - and One For All - https://oneforallcommittee.org/ -- are expert in crafting campaign messages to motivate people to vote Blue. They reach out to moderate women who admire Kamala but are married to Trumpers – giving them a nudge to follow their own common sense and vote for Kamala. Their messages are tried and true - created by veteran campaign experts, social psychologists, and data scientists - and are constantly tested and refined.
Another action step – Pls. support the work of kick-a*s investigative reporter, Justin Glawe. Only $5 a month gives you a subscription to his mighty Substack: “American Doom” - https://www.american-doom.com/p/how-georgia-election-officials-will - Justin does deep investigations into the shenanigans of the Georgia board of elections and has uncovered a lot of malfeasance. GA Republicans are doing everything they can to depress Democratic turnout, even submitting fake Death Certificates to have registered voters removed from the rolls. Much of this is only known due to Justin Glawe’s work. He writes for The Guardian and Rolling Stone; but he’s a freelance writer. Which means, in addition to no regular paycheck, he has to pay for all the FOIA (Freedom of Information) requests on his own. It also means if he’s sued, there’s no publication to cover his legal defense. Please join me in supporting him!
I wasn’t a paid subscriber but just got the free morning newsletter. I unsubscribed from that due to the hit job they published on you and the lack of front page reporting on the Trump “enemy within” remarks. We all say things and grow away from them. Keep up the fight Charlie and NYT can go to blazes.
You do not need to hear this from me. The grace with which Stevens, MiIller, You and others have admitted error and course corrected is beyond notable.
Charlie, you are a North Star to many of us who have watched and listened to your wise and sensible commentary for yrs. To be in the foxhole with you at this complicated, embarrassing shit show of a time, I am honored Sir.
And yes, among humanity, one can never ever go wrong having a dog or two. Keep the Faith!
I'm a longtime NYT subscriber and am not about to end that. I'm too addicted to their word games, for one thing.
But I'm mentally writing the letter I plan to send them sometime in the weeks to come about how their coverage of news has made them less and less relevant to me. I'm grateful to you and The Bulwark for creating a news ecosystem that provides what the national press corps increasingly does not Thanks, Charlie.

I had read the NY Times article and thought it was the perfect example of why serious people are sick and tired of the NY Times.
Seems like a decent number of folks at the NYT got their brains broken by the last 9 years.
You do not need to hear this from me. The grace with which Stevens, MiIller, You and others have admitted error and course corrected is beyond notable.

Thank you Charlie, from the bottom of my heart, for all you do.
And the whole gang at the Bulwark too.
I am soooo happy and proud to see recognition of individual efforts in regards to this election and our country!
I wish the rest of our media was not asleep at the wheel. As General Kelly said, "God help us".
I’m convinced of your integrity and miss you on The Bulwark.
