Did you see Trump proposing Liz Cheney with rifles pointed at her face and shooting at her in an execution? He is talking with Tucker Carlson. He is threatening her with death.

This photo should become iconic as the hope for the future. Two powerful women, one Democrat, one Republican working together for the common good of the United States of America. I think Liz would make a wonderful Secretary of State in Kamala’s administration.

About Liz Cheney joining a Harris cabinet, I couldn't disagree with you more. I commend her work on the Jan. 6 committee, her willingness to break with Republicans, and putting country over party. But her worldview is hyper-conservative crazy. Remember, she voted with Trump 95% of the time during his garbage presidency. So, while I am sure she has integrity, I am also sure her conservatism would become nothing but a thorn in a Harris administration's foot.

Let her band together with other conservatives with integrity (a diminishing species) to overcome the D/R duopoly and create a centre-right party to displace Trump's MAGA crap.

Thank you for this.

I am blown away by Liz Cheney's courage, given that if Trump wins, her life is surely at risk.

It worries me that many people are over-confident that Kamala will win. Polls are inaccurate. In 2016 we were confident Hillary would win, but because 40 million registered Democrats did not vote, Trump won. We cannot be complacent!

Here's an action step!

We need millions of low-propensity Democrats (a polite term for not motivated to vote), Independents, and undecideds to vote for Kamala. There are also some Republicans who are disgusted with Trump but they don’t want to “become a Democrat” – we need to inform them that voting Blue is in their best interests. WE CANNOT WIN THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE WITHOUT MILLIONS OF THEIR VOTES.

Two wonderful organizations Galvanize Action - https://www.galvanizeaction.org/ - and One For All - https://oneforallcommittee.org/ -- are expert in crafting campaign messages to motivate people to vote Blue. They reach out to moderate women who admire Kamala but are married to Trumpers – giving them a nudge to follow their own common sense and vote for Kamala. Their messages are tried and true - created by veteran campaign experts, social psychologists, and data scientists, and are constantly tested and refined.

Their next ZOOM is Thursday, October 10 - 8:30 a.m. PT/11:30 a.m. ET - will feature Hillary Rodham Clinton. Sign up here! https://secure.everyaction.com/MJ8_wId9nEOoGW_tXxl90g2?emci=0be3f83f-2381-ef11-8474-6045bda8aae9&emdi=1a268ac0-a581-ef11-8474-6045bda8aae9&ceid=8358425

WOMEN have the innate capacity to see the forest through the trees. We can handle whatever’s thrown at us, be it good, bad or a matter of survival. Keep hurling things our way and you’ll see what we’re made of: action, compassion, strength, progress. The alliance between Harris and Cheney is not surprising, I was hoping for it, and here we are. It was a powerful message coming from two WOMEN who respect the foundations of our Democracy. How can we, as Americans, not respect that?

I was visiting the NYC Public Library and saw a hand-written note by George Washington as he prepared to leave the presidency, and it stressed….national unity over political party!!!!!!!

The voices of experience are screaming at us-again!

I don't think the MAGAs have any idea how appalled the Founding Fathers would be about their movement.

First thing they would say is "Quit whining! You guys have no idea what hardship is like."

As a woman raised in Wisconsin, the daughter and granddaughter of Ripon college alumnus, in the land where my maternal ancestors settled when they came west, it was heartwarming to see Ripon in the news. I am so proud of my Democratic Party presidential candidate, Vice President Harris, and Republican, Liz Cheney. Two brilliant women coming together and trying to save our country from another 4 years of Trump, and now the black mambo, Vance. That this all took place in the town where the Republican Party formed was a nice nod to our country and Liz Cheney. I have always wondered if my great great grandparents were any part of the creation of a new national party. I like to think so because the founder’s stood against slavery.

Thanks Charley.

Cheney's hard-hitting words cut to the core of our democratic republic, Constitutional order, the rule of law.

That many are blind or don't understand the threat sickens me.

Charley,

Have you done any gaming out of the strategy of the so-called ‘Normie’ Reds based on the election outcome?

The hundreds of endorsements from Dump’s admin, generals, et al. Do they still believe in the 3-legged stool of conservatism?

I sure do miss you over at The Bulwark Charlie. This column brought tears to my eyes. I'm proud to be in a coalition with all of you.

Liz Cheney may speak of high ideals (and be damn right with every word), but too many people don't care about ideals. Too many people have gotten into their head that trump is better for them financially (even though we're not going back to early 2019 prices, and all of trump's tariff and deportation plans are inflationary), so they're gonna vote for him. It's damn depressing.

It's as if they don't really care if the facts agree with them...they just like Trump to give them words of comfort that he knows what they're going through and he's going to make it all better.

I guess...we can only hope...that slowly....people will come around to the fact that he's a snake oil salesman and all the benefits they thought they were getting...were in their head...and the money...in his pocket.

Congrats to Kamala Harris and Liz Cheney - and to us for having them on our side. Sadly, there are a lot of idiots and mean-spirited people out there.

In a separate vein, good job numbers don't mean much if you're over 55 and trying to find a well paying job that builds on past accomplishments and requires the skill and experience you've built over decades.

Finally some sanity from the "good girls"! Refreshing to say the least. I also appreciated the tone of the VP debate.

I am sure The Don took JD to the woodshed and tanned hi hide. Not a good idea, JD, to make political points and everything else @ The Don's expense

I know Liz Cheney has felt like a lonely outcast wandering in the woods. When the crowd starting shouting "thank you, Liz", I thought just maybe, that she was getting a little misty-eyed. But I think she was grateful to be welcomed to a new home with people who appreciated her sacrifice. I disagree vehemently with her stance on voting rights. However, I'm proud to stand with her in supporting Kamala Harris and Colin Allred. Let's get this election done and send DJT home so he can face justice for his crimes.

"There was truth and there was untruth, and if you clung to the truth even against the whole world, you were not mad." - George Orwell, 1984...Charlie, that is the most important line of this election season and the last decade. But what is not said is that even if so many of us are not mad, too many are beholden to lies and distortions of a different madness., which is what happened to Germany in 1932, and we know what history came out of that. I cannot believe the USA is facing the same danger as Germany in the early 30s with so many oblivious. Can enough of us stop the White Nazi?
