Children and animals need confidence to learn. I’m surprised no one has remarked that perhaps Cricket could not be trained because he was afraid of Governor Noem. With cause.
Charlie: if you're watching Dark Matter, I highly suggest reading the novel first. It's absolutely gripping and I couldn't put it down. I burned through it over a weekend. Very few novels compel this kind of behavior out of me. 10/10
This thought has plagued me recently as we near the end of the SDNY fraud trial. Already biting my nails wondering about that One Juror.
So far Trump has been granted all his wishes for the delays in the other cases. My dread feeling is - they will never see the light of day.
If this country cannot prosecute and convict DJT on even ONE of these cases, there is something tremendously wrong with our judicial system. And I will also lay this at the “dragging feet “ of Merrick Garland.
Dogs love unconditionally, and to some, are excessively fawning. Cats are more independent, and you have to earn their approval, but once you’ve got them, you’ve got them. I have one of each, and their demise leaves a hole in your heart. Thanks for acknowledging that. Your boys look like they are happily living “a dog’s life”. Nice pics.
Neither Kristi nor Nikki who’ve a chance for TFG’s Veep. If nothing else, he knows p.r., and dog murder doesn’t play well with enough people, so there goes Kristi. And Nikki’s people will go out of their way to vote against him and for her, even after she’s pulled herself out of the running. And they are both female. Republicans, perhaps most especially Republican women, don’t think a woman should be President. No “big T” energy, as Kari Lake would say. And China might attack us just when she’s on her period. Human history has been the model of stability under male control.
Serious question: has anyone here read the book My Dog Tulip, or seen the film? Cf. https://www.nyrb.com/products/my-dog-tulip-1. Charlie's dogs are both magnificent and lovable. Though I grew up with cats, I had to order the book just now, to learn something.
Not going to discuss too much politics other than Aileen Cannon is the biggest travesty of justice in existence. I very much hope in the future she is arrested, tried in a timely manner and put in prison for whatever reason she is doing this.
Rather I prefer to speak of cats and the tears just the little snippet of losing Carla brought to my eyes. We have loved and lost so many, one after 20 years, another after barely a year, and in between. I don't believe I could stand the whole article.
On what to watch: About 3 years ago I discovered Lucifer on TNT reruns (first 3 seasons), I vaguely remembered when it was new and I watched ads for it and decided it was rather silly. It isn't, I don't have Netflix so I could not get to the last 3 seasons but my husband got me the complete DVD package for Christmas and I finished watching it, all 6 seasons, last week. It is funny sad, entertaining, and a remarkable story of love and redemption told powerfully. So if you got Netflix enjoy plus watch to be able to look at Tom Ellis, wont say for males or females, I don't judge.
So, with my new pup at my feet, totally zonked, I cried while reading Tom’s article. I’m behind on everything right now, because potty training is not easy .
Success? All those children dead and many more to come in the invasion of Rafah? Supporting a completely incompetent government that does not reflect our values and has no coherent strategy? The fiasco in Afghanistan was the American lives lost over 20 years and all the money spent that was completely wasted, not the withdraw.
Tom Nichols' piece brought me to tears. I get the Atlantic, but had not read yet. Our Huskies have been so good to us. Our 3rd one passed away last summer at age 14. It's never easy.
I can’t deny it… I can’t get enough of Eli. Just seeing him makes me feel so much better. I think my husband’s jealous.
Thanks for recommending Bad Sisters - I love it!

Love the photo of Pete and his bodyguards!

You’ve clearly gone to the dogs Wise move!
Forgot to tell you, Charlie, watch “Unfrosted” on Netflix. We need sea monkey pop tarts!
Nice to hear from you this morning, Charlie!

Thanks for this.
The pictures are wonderful!

Having had many working GSD in my life, I can’t get over how massive sweet Eli is to this day. Love the pictures.
