This is all wonderful, honorable, and true. But if it doesn’t get into the heads of the general public, it might as well not exist. Our mainstream media are scrupulously avoiding reporting on all this corruption, except occasionally when they preface a blatant corruption story with “Questions are being raised” or “Democrats say.” I guess they think it’s less important than another update on the Menendez brothers.

Never thought I would see this much blatant corruption in the White House after Nixon.

Way off topic, but what is that tree with those gorgeous lilac colored flowers? I'm wondering if it would grow here. :-) Just pruned part of a long neglected tree, so brain still full of flowers.

Between the move - I can't find anything! - and POS's open corruption and the stupidity of his Cabinet (just listened to dog-killing Kristi using word salad instead of answering the questions asked, and our new HHS "secretary" who doesn't have a clue about anything), trees and flowers and Nomi are keeping me sane.

I'm fairly certain that's a Red Bud tree -easy to grow/grows fast. Not deer proof, though.

Thanks. Apparently, it can grow here in the Coachella Valley, though it's not a native tree. No deer in the neighborhood. :-)

It was totally predictable that Trump would spin taking the plane as a "good" thing right from the get-go. He has absolutely zero moral compass. However, doesn't he realize that it makes him look bad not only from the perspective of morality, it also makes the USA look weak and inept, like it can't afford its own planes but needs to accept "gifts" from the really rich countries. Does his need to have the biggest, gaudiest plane "trump" his national pride? He's clearly the most severely damaged person to have ever held the office of POTUS.

It's a good thing that FDR had such high moral principles so as to not ally with the mass murderer Joseph Stalin who killed millions more Ukrainians than Hitler did in the gas chambers. Of course Stalin just starved all eight million of them to death and didn't use poison gas so he gets credit for saving the planet by not using petroleum products. But that Trump guy is just baaad to the bone in trying to bring peace to the middle east.

Yes, here’s another facet of his corruption and among the most — and possibly the most — lucrative of all his gigs. Do you think his tariffs are all about trade? Think again. I urge you to read a recent, highly illuminating article by David Frum in The Atlantic, “The Ultimate Bait and Switch of Trump’s Tariffs” (May 12). It’s all about corruptly bringing money into Trump’s coffers. The exclusive discretion given to the President on setting, adjusting and removing tariffs — although being grossly misused — enables him to extract money from people, organizations and governments purely based on his own whim. He cannot change anyone’s personal or corporate income tax bill or anyone’s capital gains tax levy merely by executive order. But he can do just that with someone’s tariff. It is the perfect punishment-reward tool. I can waive your tariff, if you make a suitable contribution, say, to my inaugural fund, TrumpCrypto or Melania’s “documentary” project. Those options hardly exhaust the list. Trump doesn’t give a rip about the balance of trade with any country. It’s all about him and and building his wealth. Trade doesn’t matter, but he sure loves tariffs! You can see why.

Thank you Charlie for reminding us of the courageous journalist, Jamal Khashoggi. - D.C. officials renamed the street in front of the Saudi embassy in his honor, an important gesture in support of accountability for his brutal murder. I have no doubt Trump envies Prince bin Salman's ability to dispose of brave truth telling journalists.

So, "[D]efend America and...promote the fundamental interests of stability, prosperity, and peace" is the sacred mission of The Oath-Breaking SoB? Does this not also involve standing aside for every fascist state - Russia, Chine, North Korea, Bulgaria, for instance - when they assault our Constitution, economy, and people?

Where are the patriots - Democrat, Republican, and Independent - who sit in our Congress, pledged to defend our Constitution?

Thank you, Charlie, for those 2 gift articles. When it comes to providing the litany we need to see/hear for the day, you are the king. Well, until J. Michael Luttig enters the scene. In the mess of it all, I find myself grateful that some among us deserve the respect in the realm of our Founders.
