Well, I agree with Trump's first sentence in one of his tweets: "Our Country is a disaster, a laughing stock All over the world!” I do not, however, agree with his conclusion about why. We're a disaster and laughing stock because we elected him president. He is a cruel, narcissistic, incompetent buffoon. To me, however, it is not a laughing matter.

“The American people desperately need people in these positions — Director of National Intelligence and Director of the FBI — who will not only investigate and seek the truth on issues like this, but who will stand up to their boss and tell him the truth…and tell US the truth even when The Boss wants to turn it into a lie to stoke his base and push his agenda. Think Tulsi Gabbard and Ka$h Patel have it in them?

Not me.”

Increasingly the behavior of these two supposed men indicates their frontal lobes never closed. It would be useful to check for this sign of maturity before putting anyone in a position of power over others.

Of course, that requires an electorate that actually cares about consequences. Instead, a large proportion of Americans believe accountability is for everyone else but themselves.

The soulful eyes of Auggie and Eli are reassuring reminders that some beings, especially big furry ones with paws 🐾, understand the results of their behavior and act accordingly (at least most of the time)!

The Democrats' fog will not be soon lifted. They have clung so hard to the cultural left that they have lost site of true Americana. Maybe when Trump gets going full speed, the Dems will wake up and exploit the obvious. They are simply way too much up in their heads...and sometimes other places. (From a Berkeley radical circa 1970's.)

Charlie, I don't care about what Trump says. It's only purpose is to keep the narrative appeal to the base alive. I only care about what he does. So, FYI, I scrolled thru most of today's newsletter.

Admittedly this is anecdotal, but more often than not I don't hear people saying yeah, I definitely care what he says. I mostly hear oh no, no, I don't care what he says only what he does. I've tried to square this compartmentalization and implication that the two aren't related but I just can't get there. What he says reflects who he is and what he aspires to do. He may not literally be able to do all of it and yes, vast amounts are lies and blowing smoke. But based on his overall, constant, vile blather I'm pretty sure he wants to try his damndest do things that are definitely not in my best interest and not, imo, in the best interest of most citizens and our country's place in the world.

Agree with your last sentence, but do you need to be reminded of that daily?

I'm sick of Ruy Teixeira's monotonous calls for Democrats to just become as hateful, vile and dishonest as Republicans and then they can win. To what end? If that's the price of victory there's no point in winning. No integrity, principles, decency or honesty, just jumping on the toxic bandwagon. Enough already! If that's his prescription for America, he should be giddy with the election results, but don't tell me that's what I need to support.

Thank you, NanceeM. Spot on. Ruy Teixiera has a hammer, but only the Democrats are nails to him. He truly does seem to want the Dems to become the GOP.

I had never heard of this guy but wow, that's quite an article. First off, "the Democrats' drubbing"?? It's basically 50-50 out there but ok. I really don't like the term "cultural issues" as a euphemism for race, class, gender, but yes, the "cultural issues" are complicated. We are a big country, no one group is a monolith, etc. Constant examination, self-examination, and yes "re-thinks" are necessary and should be ongoing for all of us regardless of political leaning. But is he really trying to pin the election results on the extent to which the Dems either allegedly focused on or pulled back from the cultural issues? To me, he gives it away when he notes that the reason swing voters voted for Trump was because of their *perception* that Harris was more focused on cultural issues than on helping the middle class. And he even points out that this perception was "of course" the theme of the Trump campaign's "most effective" (I say disgusting) ad. In other words, he is full of it imo.

He has the same message whenever I see or hear him. The *perception* claim may be true, but where did it come from? Not the Democrats. The Dems need to learn to fight on a playing field littered with lies. It's a tough assignment. But moving toward the wrong side can't be the answer.

Typical Foxnews duplicity. They report erroneous "news", usually at the expense of immigrants, saturate the brains of their nitwit audience, then retract the lies after the damage is long past done. There is a special place in hell waiting for the entire Fox crew.

Yep Oklahoma is already following parts of it regarding education. I purchased it and read it , very concerned, but I think it will be harder for them than what I first thought. The Congress is so close and there are some GOP senators that are surprising me so far. One can hold out some hope.

Just so folks understand that Elon changing his name on Twitter didn’t get a great reception (though now reverted, I think), see the comments on him doing this, on 4chan. CW - lots of nasty commentary there. Someone on reddit made screen caps of the comments. https://www.reddit.com/r/LeopardsAteMyFace/s/7k1OUtPQ1Q

Every time the president elect or president comes out with this sort of junk there should be headlines in every publication to the effect of trump lies, repeating the lie then telling the truth. If the press continues to normalize this behavior there truly is no hope
