I’m sorry I missed the webinar last night. Is there a way I can still view or listen to the contents? I’m very interested. I have friends who would also tune in. I loved her book. I catch her whenever I can.

Thanks!

So glad that you have a new Substack! I didn’t even know about it.

Thanks Charlie for talking to Liz. Although I don’t agree with most of her policies I can’t believe I’m saying that I agree with her on protecting democracy. When Maddow actually had her on you know this is serious and flashing bright red.

Thanks for the doggie pics. I had a thyroid biopsy Tuesday along with a visit to my pain management doctor so by the time I got home there was 9 happy kitties. I’ve been out of it from the pain but the 4 faithful stayed with me except to eat, use the litter pans and do some bird, squirrel and chipmunk watching when I was awake. Sorry I can’t post a pic of my Harley girl tucked up against me being my purrimedic. Getting old isn’t for sissies but having purrimedics makes it much better.

Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Does Trump not realize who largely makes up the support staff maintaining & cleaning the grounds, buildings, & rooms at Mar-A-Lago & probably all of his other properties?

As always, the pictures of Auggie, Eli and baby Eli with Pete are appreciated. Your boys are delightful! And Pete is missed.

Great interview today, as expected. Loved the use of “dead cat bounce.”

I missed the webinar with Liz Cheney. Is there a place when it was recorded.

Expand full comment

It was excellent. My guess is that the recording will be made available. Usually gets distributed in a couple of days.

That was a good one, Charlie!

I had heard snippets of the Time Magazine article in the morning and then read it at night. I didn't think I would learn much. But my take was this is the best of what and how journalism should be regarding covering Donald Trump going forward. So far Media (I hate that term) hasn't learned the lesson on how to cover Trump.Or better yet they over learned it. With the exception of a few news cable channels ,a few sites, (The Bulwark, Lincoln Project,On the Contrary) the coverage has been to simply ignore him. Hopefully,Time Magazine sets a new trend in coverage.

I believe the best ones in MSM are Maddow, Nicolle Wallace and Lawrence O’Donnell on tv and print has to be Jonathan Swan. They know the risk that TFG presents and brings it to Americans. Meidas Touch on YouTube does a decent job. Right now nobody is thinking about the election as many just want to enjoy the summer. I’ve got several books for the pool (Find me the votes and 2 others I haven’t finished) I wonder how many TFG supporters I’ll tick off at the pool. Someone has to do it in this purely red county in the N GA mountains tiny home/resort community.

My brother has a brother in law in northern Georgia,Hiawassi (I doubt that is the right spelling).Where do you reside? I like Nicole Wallace.I think Swan is the gold standard in interviewing Trump along with Chris Mathews.I saw the interview by Mathews of Trump (about 2016) Mathews was so quick with his questions and follow ups that Trumpster couldn't think.(not that he does anyway). That is where Trump said women who have abortions should be prosecuted. Can you imagine if he said that today!

Hiawassee is about 25 miles north of me. I’m in Cleveland. I like ones that can pop off the well you stated or you did. Give that pushback against the lies.

I hope these protests are done by late summer and they don’t show up to the DNC. These are running 24/7 on cable news. The progressive left sometimes looks like a deliberate campaign to undermine Biden. Maybe they can chip in some money to send Grub Hub to the immigrant concentration camps Trump is planning to build.

These are the Democratic convention tryout rounds.

Charlie, can we dispense with the analogies of today’s college protests with 1968? These encampments are more Occupy Wall Street than Kent State. Their aims and tactics are similarly confused and unobtainable. Good analysis has been done on the difference between divesting from Israel than from S. Africa or fossil fuels, for example. These students might as well hang a sign around their necks that say: Raise my tuition. Reduce my grants. Make me borrow even more. One thing that is painfully clear is that the arguments to forgive student loans probably took a big hit this week.
