Charlie's journalism prompts me to comment about the pathetic coverage of tRump by the mainstream media. They enforce a double-standard, letting tRump's insanity, unfitness, and lying to remain mostly cloaked. They are desperate for an old-time horse race and they won't let the threat of losing democracy get in the way of their incomplete coverage. I mean, we KNOW the Fox Propaganda channel are most-time liars; that's been proven. The complicity of silence by most of the mainstream media is the real danger heading towards November's vote.
I struggle with my normie conservative parents who continue to fall back on "both sides are bad, or are doing this" even though the evidence is objective and overwhelming. So I'm having a hard time convincing them of the stakes. Hopefully, I can get them to read this newsletter from Charlie.
It’s great that people are feeling so hopeful about Kamala, but we cannot be complacent. There’s still a substantial chance Trump could win. We won’t change Trump supporters, but we can try to convince anyone “on the fence” to vote Democratic. 40 million REGISTERED DEMOCRATS did not bother to vote in 2016, which is why Trump won. So we must contact people we know in swing states who are undecided, Democrats who often don’t bother to vote, or Independents. (I know people in the Mid-west (Covid deniers, SMH) who want to vote for RFK Jr. - I’m going to politely explain that could send their swing state to Trump.)
Also, if Trump does win, we’ll lose the Senate. (As the White House goes, so goes the Senate.) So it’s important to elect more Democrats to the House – the House is a protective firewall. OATH does a great job of identifying races where donations will be most effective. I looked at my Quicken expenses, and my Charlie Sykes To the Contrary subscription gets categorized by default as Rent. So I guess you have a little space of your own in my head, Charlie, and that's okay.
Someone please bring me back off the ledge and assure me that clear thinking and competent people are organizing to combat trumps very obvious build-up to deny the November election results.
Trump is now behind in NC, although within the margin of error. Considering how long Rs have been in power in NC and how entrenched they are (they have gerrymandered the hell out of the legislature) this is something. Trump was up by 7 in May. On the down side, Cornell West has been placed on the ballot, possibly to drain away the African American support for Harris. Rs are running scared now in NC.
Strongly urge folks to research narcissistic personality disorder; Trump is a textbook narcissist. They only have “their emotional truth”; objective truth has no meaning for them. There isn’t any limit to what they can concoct to meet their emotional emptiness. It will get worse; they can never be wrong,
Trump actually has co-occurring disorders. He has many all at the same time; and it’s really better to focus on the psychotic aspects -that he is a psychopath- not just a narcissist.
