Godzilla vs King Kong is an apt analogy. However it also invites us to consider the collateral damage that such monsters cause as they battle for victory. Just how many structures that took decades to construct will be decimated by a thorny tail swoosh or hairy left hook. Think about the years of reconstruction that will be necessary simply because we didn’t have the resolve to prevent this in November of 2024. How do we counter the creation of more monsters? Can we?

Pete looks like a worthy best buddy. Dogs, give us hope.

Hi Charlie,

I know you enjoy photography on a daily basis...having seen the images of your best friends your beautiful canines...so I put this to you as I'm and avid photographer myself and mostly capture expansive landscapes...and it dawned on me that the current American Administration only uses a telephoto lens and zooms in to capture single specific events prolifically and disseminates all these images at a furious pace to distract from the broader context.

This Administration never uses a wide-angle lens...the one that places all things in context with it's surroundings and so never actually takes stock of current events and never makes decisions in the broader context. They never need to justify or address the repercussions of the images they present as they hold fast to their blinders...and swat away with rhetoric and propaganda anything that requires deliberation or a more inclusive viewpoint.

This Administration requires it's lemmings...its Secretaries of State & Federal Departments, its Republican Congressmen and its MAGA followers to wear blinders 24/7...while the rest of America and the World is blinder-free...deliberately using a wide angle lens to reveal the obvious Truths...to uphold the Constitution, to respect the Laws of the Land...to engage the greater World and to retain Democracy with our Allies across the Planet.

It also dawned on me that recent events in Los Angeles are likely seen with Blinder On...however I believe using that wide angle lens that this is just the start of a Revolution that will take hold in many Large Cities and even Small Towns across America...those brave people with a wide angle lens that will no longer tolerate the Administrations stance on Immigration, Deportation, Arrests and Abuse of those that have ventured to America to make a valued life for themselves and their children.

When the Blinders Come Off...and we use a Wide Angle Lens on History...we immediately find that America was founded by First Nations People and then by Immigrants from every Country in the World. That's what MADE AMERICA GREAT...and this AGAIN bit is a FARSE...as it's seen through a very restrictive Telephoto Lens...essentially through a set of Preconceived Blinders appropriated by the Absurd Founders of Project 2025.

Democracy will Prevail...and yes...the People Must Rise Up such that their Voice is Heard by All!!

This from a Canadian...who holds no bounds...and wishes the Best for America!

The spectacle between these two powerful men is a parade of shame. Neither will win, but the true victims are the thousands upon thousands of children who will die today in Africa. The emotional burden of these brutal deaths imposed on all Americans by Trump, Musk, Vance, Rubio, and Noem is formidable and “shocks the conscience of humanity,” (ICC wording) Can you image watching your child starve to death?

The actions of Trump and Musk are despicable, and we can only hope that this ugly brawl will end in some form of spontaneous combustibility and their own devastation – self-destruction is defined as something or someone causing so much damage that it cannot be repaired. (Wikipedia)

RIP Pete. 17-1/2 years is both a blessing and an extraordinary life for a canine. Thank you for all you do.

Enjoy your well-deserved break. As for Pete, he had an exceptional human dad-and-mom duo. Currently I have a client, Harry, who just celebrated 16...his humans/ dad-and-mom team are good parents, too. Hope Harry is as fortunate as Pete was!

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of such a faithful companion, Pete. Wow, 17 1/2 years. That is truly amazing — but not nearly long enough. Blessings to you and your family in your grief.

Thank you for the memorial to Pete. We all need a reminder on what is really important to us in this chaotic time. As a subscriber to your Substack , please take time off. Your dedication is very appreciated. I am really enjoying the fight between King Kong and Godzilla. This is the first time President Trump has met his match in malicious fighting. I know the rest of the world has been wondering what has happened to us. I hope they are enjoying the breakup as much as we are.
