You are absolutely on point to compare Trump 2.0 to Viktor Orban but personally I’m inclined to refer to his regime as the Khmer Orange. Are the new revisionist history textbooks available yet? I won’t be surprised if high school science textbooks are the next target. It is so surreal that this is happening to our country.

I'm focusing on Auggie. "Any man who does not like dogs and want them about does not deserve to be in the White House." Thank you, Silent Cal! Lookin' at ya, ferret-haired cockwomble! Dogs rule 😍

Or it started with Nixon and Viet Nam? Phyllis Schlafly and the ERA? Reagan and AIDS? Bush and the S&L Meltdown? Housing Bubble? Supreme Court packed with Devout Catholics? The Snowball started rolling downhill way back.

this has hit me harder than most of the other things he has done. The image of him and his whole Cabinet sitting in that gilded Oval Office smirking and preening sickens me to the extent that I just can even. Where do we go from here? Will we even survive until the Mid-terms?

Every day I am more and more frightened. Every day I am more ashamed to be an American. No wonder the rest of the world is laughing at us and wondering how in the hell we could have elected Trump again.

Pups have good taste in TV!

Trump’s Justice Department argues that the judicial branch has no right or power to interfere with the President’s prerogatives with respect to foreign policy. Why do the courts not yet recognize that they are being played? Trump sweeps someone of the streets without due process, a violation of the most fundamental of American (domestic) rights, transports that person to a foreign concentration camp and then contends that all implications of that move are matters of foreign policy as to which the courts have no say. This is a bare-faced fraud on the Constitution.

Who would have thought that King Fuckface of Fraud would commit fraud on the US Constitution?

I've been warning about a "tipping" point for years; pre-Trump. But the final tipping point was November 5th, 2024, when the American electorate voted for authoritarianism, and many didn't care enough to vote at all.

You are saying that it's time and past time to do something. We are not so much tipping as toppling into the abyss of lawlessness under a man (backed by many other powerful such men) who is mad as a hatter, sadistic, greedy and ruthless. Anyone who fails to understand how dire our situation is ought to be forced to watch Trump's recent meetings in the Oval Office and then read the appalled commentary afterward. This is it--a constitutional crisis, a moral crisis, a financial crisis. What the hell are we waiting for?

Timothy Snyder presumably should understand the nuanced differences and the gaping differences between Trump's actions and events of the past.

You quoted King Louis XIV just like I did in a post. When will his supporters think his actions and those of his supporters are repulsive. I wish we could send the whole administration to Devil's Island. I'm sure French President Macron wouldn't object.
