Charlie,

I’m absolutely sure that’s it’s a pain right in the butt to wander thru all the (unpaid) comments. But it truly sets you apart. I haven’t worked in 20 months, and rarely do I comment. But you let me get by the paywall if I so choose. Hence, ha

I read you every day.

Good luck in all things sir

AND

Why don’t you tell the world every day that Trump doesn’t like dogs ?..?

How can a man represent this great land that hates dogs ?

You should join the Gail Collins gang (Romney) and mention it every day

Reply to self, grammar. How can a man that hates dogs even suggest that he represents this great land of ours ??

I have one question about the young man that’s being held in El Salvador, possibly along with many other innocent men.

Who gave him permission to pay $6 million of taxpayer money to El Salvador?

Who told him that he could use our taxpayer money to do that?

It’s not without the realm of thinking that $6 million went right to the president of El Salvador .

That’s our money .

I'm not going to be able to watch Real Time anymore. He pissed me off over how he attacked Democrats when Harris lost, while giving Trump voters themselves a total pass, but I gave him a second chance. But the pilgrimage to the White House is too much. The pics of him grinning ear to ear with Trump, Kid Rock, and Dana White, are not going to age well, and I think, given how things have escalated in the two weeks since his visit, that Bill knows that.

Yes, so we must all prepare for mass demonstration and civil disobedience. I have written a conversation guide to help facilitate that preparation.

Professionals and educated people did not fare too well during Mao’s cultural revolution. Just a historical point to keep in mind.

..and verbally humilated the late Senator McCain! When he got away with disgracing a former POW as an REPUBLICAN (imagine a Dem doing this..), I recognized that something very abnormal was going on..

Maher is an arrogant prick.

As for the tipping point: election 2024

I watched the Maher segment. He just reported events. I said this and then Trump said that and then I said this .... He merely told us what happened.

Their mutual friend Kid Rock set it up and attended and Trump knew Kid Rock wanted him to be nice, so it's not impossible to believe that Maher reported accurately that Trump behaved. Plus, there were no TV cameras there so Trump wouldn't have felt pressured to misbehave.

As someone astutely pointed out elsewhere on Substack, how do you think Ted Bundy got all those women into the car? Sociopaths can turn on the charm when they need to, and they can be very, very convincing. Bill thinks he saw the real Trump. He did, but he misinterpreted it.

Maher is gullible. I've seen him taken in by right wingers repeatedly. He's been on a tear against "extremist liberals" for years, so is delighted when he finds agreement (See Elon Musk, Barri Weiss, Megyn Kelly). He thinks he saw the real Trump and everything else is some inexplicable act. What was that we saw today in the Oval Office? Judge by what one does, not how he behaves in a staged moment.

I don't know where the tipping point occurred, just know that trump is a tyrant . I'm so sadden by all of this. Thank you Charlie for the Auggie pictures .Some days my cats and your dogs are the only things that keep me from despair.

The tipping point may have been when the Supremes’ immunity decision and how they stalled before deliberating, making continuation of Trump’s trial impossible. Or it may have been Garland’s chickenshit reluctance to appoint a special counsel before it was almost too late. 🇨🇦

The tipping point was when Reagan told the horde that government was the problem, not the solution. The unholy alliance of billionaires, Christianists, fascists, gun nuts, and all the racist/sexist folks who make sure these groups direct their rage to the "right" people has won. They have been aided and abetted by countless "moderate" Republican and Democrats for the last 40+yrs. The white oligarchy was only going to be able to bullshit the masses for so long with the gloss of meritocracy and the trappings of justice. They sold the promise of vengeance and "freedom" to the MAGA throngs. Unbeknownst to the ugly masses - the cost will be Democracy, their 401ks, their healthcare, and any hope that their children will do better than them.
