How is the Guantanamo encampment being paid for? Supposedly the transport there is via military aircraft. Is that legal as a general matter. Can military funds and assets be placed at the disposal of civilian agencies?

Even if we contact our reps and Senators, the ones we have to worry about not supporting their Constituents' wishes are the Republican Extremists and those in that party who are spineless, scared that they will be primaried next election. If they do nothing (and we can track their work and their votes), then their Constituents will not re-elect them, anyway. So, unless they stand up for those they were elected to serve, they will surely lose. Their Constituents will not vote for anyone put forth by tRump or his co-president, so that person will not get the seat to further the Administration's goals.

For the tRusk regime to decide they will not allow the Judicial Branch to do their job is something we all must be ready to fight with protests, and possible impeachment of tRump. He has attempted to violate the Rule of Law in this Country and has been shot down by the Judiciary, but if they are hellbent on ignoring the Judiciary, then these restraining orders are not worth the paper they are printed on.

This issue has waxed and wained in our history. We reach the low point when innocents become objects not human beings. It shows the cancer is at or close to stage 4. It is called a police state and run by people who have lost their humanity. Recent history, yes the 1930s/40s are recent show the impunity of these haters is short lived. Anyone who has the capacity to feel the terror of people who fear going out to losing everything even their children sees this is wrong.

for everyone out there asking the same question about "what if"...I highly recommend Lucian Truscott's newsletter today. It is the first time I have witnessed in any forum anywhere someone suggesting that the military has a role to play in upholiding court orders. I certainly had no idea. If he's accurate, I think it merits massive amplification immediately.

In an earlier post, I asked the question what next? What if Trump defies the court? I should have listened to your first podcast with David French! Thanks for what you bring to the table.

A military coup?

The military would seem to be the only way to enforce SCOTUS decisions POTUS ignores. But that is - complicated.

The armed forces are pledged to follow the Constitution of the US not the President.

SCOTUS has final say on what is constitutional. But what would be the mechanism for giving this order?

Would military obey an order that does not come the C-in-C?

Will they follow a C-in-C order contrary to SCOTUS that is explicitly unconstitutional?

Is this now a military coup?

Didn’t Trump start this ignoring of the TIKTOK ruling?

So...now what? If the judicial system doesn't hold, what recourse do we have? It would interesting to hear what kinds of options Americans backing the Consitution have in these times.

Appeasement has work well so far right? Wrong. The court should not appease no matter public opinion. As ineffective as opposing Trump will be, we need to know there is one ray of hope, one strand of moral fiber to rebuild from.

Trump and MAGA are lawless. He will not be held back by any law, any amendment of the constitution, or any judicial ruling. Why should he? SCOTUS declared that he was above the law and could commit any criminal acts he wanted to so long as he did them within the duties of his office. The courts can't force him to comply. He controls the executive. MAGA controls the legislative. Even IF the Dems re-take the House, it's unlikely they will take the senate. The most they would be able to do is impeach and then the senate will acquit. Nothing and nobody can touch Donald Trump. He is above the law and will do as much criminal activity as he wants including running for a third term in 2028. There is not one thing anyone can do about it.
