Trump had a resentment for the 911 system. He never liked it. Before it was adopted in 1968 the human Prolapse would say “Dropping the dime on someone was as easy as 1234.” (440-1234 was the emergency # first for NYC) After 911 they were able to track the calls origin location. That's when he had to turn to the Rags like Enquirer and the Post and it started costing him money. That's why 911

So super glad to read you again in my inbox. You started me on my love affair with the Bulwark. I've missed your sarcasm and witt it makes my heart smile along with the gorgeous pup pics. Thank you

I bet I've listened to your commentary one hundred times on MSNBC. There is at least one picture of a dog, clearly a special dog, on the mantle or elsewhere behind you. These images are a part of how I've come to view you as a conservative who has caught the ear of this Connecticut liberal because you promote consensus and compromise, what is "for the good of the order." Governor Noem provokes the horrific opposite. She is Dictator Don's perfect running-mate. At their convention, instead of a ballon drop, I imagine a kibble drop.

Any day I see your name in Substack is a gift. Thank you for the books list. I have HL Mencken as I live in Baltimore and go to a discussion group about his works. I’ve been wanting to read Montaigne's' Meditations and you note got me going. Books coming in a few days. Have a wonderful day Charlie!

I miss the Morning Shots but glad you are still publishing. (Semi) retirement now gives so much more time to read great books!! Keep the dog pics coming, and now and then giving us a dose of old Pete.

You could make a postcard with Aussie!

I carried Montaigne's' Meditations ' in my purse

in college. I love the wisdom of his sayings.

My favorite saying of H L Mencken is: Puritanism

is the fear that someone somewhere might be

happy!

Love this list! Any thoughts on Top Chef Wisconsin? They’re only a few weeks in to the season - new episodes drop on Bravo Wednesdays and Peacock Thursdays - and your state looks gorgeous! It’s a fun show to binge at any time, but especially when you want a break from politics. All seasons are on Peacock if you catch the fever (PSA: early seasons aren’t good).
