The GOP stuff works. I was talking to a neighbor - normal guy, never talking politics before - and he went off on "left-wingers wanting trans in sports." Another friend, who's a nice guy said if a transgender person fell, he'd be the first to help them up, but he's scared of transgenders taking over. I'd guess transvestites are 1/1000 of 1 percent of the population, but I'm amazed at how many people voted because of that.

Nancy Mace, MTG, and the rest of the GOP braintrust are simply baiting the trap for the Dems. They know that the "they/them vs. us" trope went over well as a talking point. As crude as it might be, it gained traction.
Voters generally view trans folk through the lens of South Park. Caitlin Jenner's twisted face is a not-so subtle symbol for whatever may have happened down below. Mr. Garrison connecting with "the girls" in the tampon aisle and "Heather" in the "Strong Woman" competition also reflect a notion of what voters think.
All it will take are a few Dems to come to the rescue of Rep. McBride to allow the GOP and its echo to restart the "they/them vs. us" ball rolling again.
I keep thinking of the women (and children, kyrie eleison) involved, no... victimized! by these gross people.
Will their privacy be preserved as MAGA turns its gruesome troll army on those who've suffered abuse, assault, and humiliation at the hands of the likes of Hegseth, Gaetz, etc? I have little faith that they will be left alone.
Charlie, permit me a small diversion, because yes for the most part the GOP has outdone itself this week as far as cruelty, and sheer stupidity go, but this small ray of sunshine helps at least a little.

You’re spot on about how we should handle Nancy Mace. She wants the conversation to be about her, about her latest stupid stunt, and controlled be her flooding social media with her rants about it. She survives politically by shamelessly seeking attention.
But the junior member of Congress, who is the target of her latest tantrum, isn’t playing along. She didn’t take the bait. She remained calm, and focused on her job. Mace wins when she makes her target get angry, and respond in kind. McBride did the opposite, and McBride is the one who looks like an adult, while Mace is kicking and screaming from the floor.
We are made more dumb, by paying attention to Nancy Mace.

For some reason our community is rich in Shepherds and they often end up at the shelter where we both volunteer. Shepherds do not do well in a shelter. We just found a home for our latest foster.
